Expertise: Computed Tomography (CT), Spectral CT, Photon-counting CT, Phase-contrast CT, Image Reconstruction/Formation, Imaging Methods, and Systems
Dr. Tang is Professor at the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Emory University. With extensive experience in industry (GE) and academia (Emory), he has been in the field for more than 20 years, focusing on computed tomography, from multi-detector/cone-beam (MDCT/CBCT) to the latest spectral/photon-counting CT. In GE, he delivered the image reconstruction solutions to its two generations of flagship CT (LightSpeed VCT64 and Discovery CT750 HD) and hundreds of them are running daily worldwide to save life and improve the quality of life. With 19 US patents, he is the author/co-author of about 200 papers published in leading scientific journals and conferences. He has served the community as AE (2013–2021) and Sr. AE (2021–2022) of Medical Physics, member of the Physics Subcommittee of RSNA’s Scientific Program Committee (2013–2019), co-director of the Imaging Program of AAPM’s 64th (2022) and 65th (2023) Annual Meeting, and panelist of numerous NIH study sections. He is Fellow of SPIE and AAPM.
