Maria A. Zuluaga obtained her PhD from Université de Lyon (France) in 2011. She took up positions as a postdoctoral fellow at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Grenoble, FR (2011-12) and as a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Medical Image Computing, University College London, UK (2012-16). After a 2.5 years’ experience in industry, where she led a team working on fundamental machine learning research, she joined EURECOM (Sophia Antipolis, France) as an Assistant Professor in machine learning within the Data Science department. At EURECOM, she leads the research on machine learning for healthcare applications. Since 2021, she holds a junior chair at the Interdisciplinary Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI), the 3IA Côte d’Azur, specializing on AI for integrative computational medicine. Her research interests are in the development of methods for biomedical image analysis with a special focus on their safe translation into clinical practice.
