This work presents a solution to extend the battery lifetime by converting biomechanical heartbeats energy into electricity using an innovative electrostatic MEMS energy harvesting device. Based on the energy consumed by the latest generation of leadless commercial pacemakers, this solution has experimentally demonstrated the possibility of extending pacemaker battery life by up to 44%, and holds out the prospect of total battery replacement. read more
