Youssef El-Hayek received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada. Following that, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. P. Carlen at the University Health Network, Toronto, ON, Canada. During his time there, he investigated the neurophysiology of epilepsy, aging, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease. Dr. El-Hayek is a recipient of the Alzheimer's Society of Canada Doctoral Training award and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research “Science to Business” award.
