Rahib Abushev was born in Baku City, Azerbaijan, in 1932. He received Ph.D. degrees in microbiology from the Institute of New Antibiotics, Moscow, Russia in 1993. From 2003 to 2012, he was a Professor in Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry in Baku State University, Azerbaijan. He collected various Actinobacterial isolates in Baku city, Azerbaijan Microorganisms Collection, and introduced 1 new species of Actinobacteria. He passed away in 2013.
