News & Activities

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alberta is a joint department between the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Research in the department is highly interdisciplinary across a wide range of biomedical engineering fields including biomaterials, biosensing, magnetic resonance imaging, biomechanics, computational modeling, medical robotics, advanced prosthetics, rehabilitation engineering, and many others. We work closely and enjoy long-standing partnerships with departments in the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Engineering, Science, and Rehabilitation Medicine.

Management of the department has recently transitioned to the Faculty of Engineering. At this exciting time, we are seeking a Department Chair to lead our team through this unique period of transition and growth. A key member of our team, the Department Chair will help realize and achieve our teaching and research goals. More information about this opportunity is available at the University of Alberta careers page: https://www.careers.ualberta.ca/Competition/A107449612/.

The major focus of the Bionanotechnology and BioMEMS Technical Activities Committee will be to organize workshops and symposiums designed to communicate up-to-date research in the fields of bionanotechnology and bioMEMS to the EMBS membership.

These workshops and symposiums will either be organized at various EMBS conferences or held separately at other venues.

The Technical Activities Committee is currently organizing bionanotechnology workshops, and is seeking the membership’s and member’s opinions about their relevant interests as well as the contents of these bioMEMS workshops.
