This AeHIN Hour last August 13 described selected historical achievements relating to nursing and health informatics, arguing that eHealth is an important and central facet of nursing practice. It will provide an overview of the International Council of Nurses’ eHealth Programme, highlighting a major work stream, the International Classification for Nursing Practice, which seeks to provide a unifying framework for nursing information worldwide.

Our speaker, Nick Hardiker has nearly 20 years’ experience of theoretical and applied research in Health Informatics, with a particular focus on Health Records and Terminologies. He is Director of the International Council of Nurses eHealth Programme, Editor-in-Chief of Informatics for Health and Social Care, a member of national and international standards bodies and think tanks, and regularly provides advice to organisations such as the UK Department of Health on informatics issues.
