THIS SPECIAL Issue of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON NANOBIOSCIENCE comprises 11 papers that are extended versions of accepted papers selected from the 10th International Symposium on Bioinformatics Research and Applications (ISBRA 2014). ISBRA 2014 received 119 full paper submissions from over 20 countries and every paper went through a very rigorous review process. It provided a forum for the exchange of ideas and results among researchers, developers, and practitioners working on all aspects of bioinformatics and computational biology and their applications. After a carefully consideration, 48 papers were accepted as regular papers and 12 selected papers were recommended to be extended and submitted to this Special Issue. Finally, 11 extended submissions were accepted following a rigorous review process. The accepted papers illustrate the variety of applications of computational methods in the field of nanobioscience, ranging from computational modeling of molecular processes and biological data analysis methods to system level simulation and parallel algorithms.
