This work aims to create a functional retinal map, to locate potential areas of diseased retina. To do so, we created a new electroretinogram recording method which increases the number of recording electrodes around the eye from only a few real ones, by simply moving the gaze. We show that, by solving the inverse problem with an eye model, we can recreate the retinal activity that would have produced the many signals obtained. We present the best recording method and requirements needed for our novel technique to reliably reproduce the retina’s topographic activity, which should improve disease detection and follow-up.
