This article introduces a soft nanomembrane bioelectronic system that offers wireless, quantitative detection of blepharospasm (BL). A set of computational and experimental studies of materials and mechanics provides the fundamental design factors for the soft bioelectronics. The nanomembrane electrodes, mounted around the eyes, are capable of measuring clinical symptoms, including the frequency of blinking, the duration of eye closures, and combinations of blinking and spasms. The deep-learning algorithm offers objective, real-time classification of critical pathological features in BL. The wearable electronic system outperforms the conventional manual clinical rating, proven by a pilot study with 13 patients.
