Dear friends,
I am very pleased to share with you today that the IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine (JTEHM) has passed the National Library of Medicine’s rigorous Scientific Quality Review for inclusion in PubMed Central (PMC). After technical review, we expect all articles – including those previously published – to be available in PMC within four weeks. JTEHM is our Society’s first online-only journal to be indexed in PubMed.
This announcement is especially exciting because it means we’ll be able to broaden our reach, and better serve the scientific community – from researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs, to industry and legislative leaders.
JTEHM’s articles highlight innovative solutions to healthcare needs from the biomedical engineering, clinical engineering, and medical communities that bridge the engineering and clinical worlds. JTEHM‘s unique scope is original work at the intersection of engineering and clinical translation.
The journal’s focus is interdisciplinary collaborations among researchers, healthcare providers, and industry. We publish results and best practices from these translational efforts and serve as a community hub for researchers, clinicians, and developers who are addressing challenges in technology development, commercialization, and deployment for better global healthcare. Our online format allows us to share interactive content that includes video, lively commentary, blogs, and other features to engage clinical and engineering communities.
For those of you who have an interest in submitting your work to JTEHM: there’s never been a better time! The JTEHM editorial board has exciting special issues planned for the months ahead, and there’s currently a call for papers for the upcoming NIH-IEEE 2015 Strategic Conference on Healthcare Innovations and Point-of-Care Technologies for Precision Medicine. We welcome papers with research findings and clinical translation studies from clinicians, engineering faculty and students, industry, policy makers, and the investment community. We also welcome your input and comments on challenges in quality global healthcare, clinical needs, and issues in technology translation to clinical applications on our community forum.
