Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Stork studied Physics with focus on Optics and Digital Image Processing at the University of Munich and University Erlangen-Nürnberg, where he received his PhD in Applied Optics. Since 1993 he works at the Institute for Information Processing Technologies at the Karlsruhe University. He leads the research group in Microsystems Technology and Optics, cooperates in various EU funded research projects and is author of numerous influential publications with focus on optoelectronics in medicine, as well as on computer-based tools for micro-optical systems and components.
