Philippe Thoumie received the Ph.D. degree in biomechanics in Orsay University, Orsay, France, in 1993. He is Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in University Pierre and Marie Curie Paris (Paris 6) and Head Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Rothschild Hospital. His main areas of interest are posture and gait evaluation, technology for rehabilitation and rehabilitation programs in spinal diseases, neuromuscular disorders, and multiple sclerosis. He published many publications concerning aspects of balance and gait in neurological and orthopaedic disorders. He developed specifically since 1996 clinical evaluations in the field of orthotic devices (lumbar belts, gait orthosis).
