
Christos D. Liapis
Christos D. Liapis received the Diploma degree, in 1972 and the Ph.D. degree, in 1982 from the Medical School of Athens, Athens, Greece. He is currently the Head of the Department of Vascular Surgery, Athens University Medical School, Athens, Greece, and is involved in several ongoing national and international studies. His 35-year career in vascular surgery spans major academic and clinical posts from the U.S. to Europe. During his term as the Secretary-General of the UEMS Division and Board of Vascular Surgery from 1999 to 2004, he played a key role in the Board Examinations, European Vascular CME and the establishment of Vascular Surgery as an independent Specialty Section in Europe. He served as the President of the European Society of Vascular Surgery from 2004 to 2005. He is currently the President of the International Society for Vascular Surgeons. He has written more than 300 articles and a number of books.
