Candace Kerr received the M.S. degree in zoology from the University of Maine, Orono, ME, USA, and the Ph.D. degree in genetics and biochemistry from the Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA, USA. She completed her postdoctoral training in biochemistry at the Johns Hopkins University. She became faculty in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University in 2008, where she established her laboratory in stem cells and development. In 2011, she joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Maryland (UM), Baltimore, MD, USA, and is a member of the UM Stem Cell Program. She has published multiple papers, reviews, and book chapters on stem cells and oligodendrocyte differentiation and is co-inventor on several patents involving stem cell applications.
