Barbara Oakley is a professor of engineering at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and author of A Mind for Numbers: How to Excel in Math and Science (Even If You Flunked Algebra), published by Tarcher-Penguin in 2014. Her research focuses on the complex relationship between neuroscience and social behavior. She is the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society vice president of member and student activities.
