Abderraouf Benali received the Diploma in electrical engineering from the University Polytechnic of Algiers, Algiers, Algeria, in 1988, and the M.S. in robotics and the Ph.D. degrees in control and robotics from the University of Paris VI, Paris, France, in 1991 and 1997, respectively. From 1997 to 1999, he was at the Laboratoire de Robotique de Paris as a Research Assistant. In 2000, he joined the Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Bourges, Bourges, France, where he is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering. He is mainly interested in human and robot interaction, haptic interface, impedance control, and nonlinear control systems.
