Infusion Mechanisms in Brain White Matter and its Dependence of Microstructure: An Experimental Study of Hydraulic Permeability
The limited understanding of solute transport in brain white matter tissue has hindered optimisation of infusion-based drug delivery therapies. This paper describes the first direct measurement of hydraulic permeability in white matter subjected to infusion. Our experiments reveal the dependency of hydraulic permeability on the alignment between the flow direction and the orientation of the axonal fibres.
