Search for Editor-in-Chief: IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (TBME) 300 402 IEEE EMBS

The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) is undertaking a search for Editor-In-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (TBME). TBME seeks to publish high quality manuscripts with broad appeal to the entire field of biomedical engineering. These topics are basic and applied, and range from engineering development of methods and techniques with biomedical applications through experimental and clinical investigations with engineering contributions.
We seek an Editor-in-Chief (EiC) who is internationally recognized and has a broad perspective on biomedical engineering who will continue the rising stature of the journal. Prior journal service or editorial experience is desirable, as the journal receives over 1500 submissions per year and has nearly 100 Associate Editors. The ideal candidate has a vision for how to improve the quality of review, raise the stature of the journal, and handle efficiently the logistics of paper management.
The Editor-in-Chief position is for a three-year term and is renewable for an additional three years. The term of appointment will start January 2019, with a transitional period overlapping with the current EiC in July, 2018. At the time of appointment, the successful applicant must be a member of the IEEE EMBS.
Nominations and applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is selected. Review of applications by the Search Committee will commence in February 2018 and concludes as a soon as a final candidate is approved.
Nominations/applications should include the following in electronic format (pdf):

  • Goals and strategy for improving intellectual quality, scientific impact and visibility of TBME.
  • A brief synopsis of the candidate’s expertise in technical editing along with subject areas.
  • A detailed curriculum vitae.
