MILAN, ITALY, August 25, 2015 – The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) is hosting the 37th Annual International Conference (EMBC’15), this year being held at the Milano Conference Center in Milan, Italy, from Tuesday, August 25 through Saturday, August 29. More than 3,000 global leaders, students, and industry professionals in science, medicine, and engineering are registered to attend.
This year’s conference theme is Biomedical Engineering: a Bridge to Improve the Quality of Health Care and the Quality of Life. Throughout the week, attendees will explore the central role of biomedical engineering in improving innovation of healthcare and its direct impact on the quality of life, and discuss how biomedical engineering will help people to reach and maintain wellness through advanced technologies, devices, and protocols. Diverse topics from cutting-edge biomedical and healthcare technology research and development, clinical applications, to biomedical education will all be covered.
The conference program consists of exciting keynote lectures, symposia, workshops, invited sessions, oral and poster sessions, and exhibitions. Several student-focused activities are also on the program for EMBC’15, including a paper competition, several exciting workshops and symposia, a special session from IEEE’s Women in Engineering society, lunches with leaders in the biomedical engineering field, and a networking reception.
“This year’s Annual Conference in Milan is especially exciting for so many reasons. We are honored to welcome so many distinguished presenters and attendees from around the world,” said EMBS President, Andrew Laine. “They reflect our Society’s ongoing commitment to bringing together the very best and brightest minds in biomedical engineering and beyond, as we all work toward building better professionals and finding solutions through medicine and biology. I’m tremendously proud that EMBS continues to serve as a trusted source for emerging technology and healthcare resources.”
This year, attendees are invited to download the EMBC’15 smartphone app, which includes a complete schedule, list of attendees, venue maps, and a handy news tab that allows attendees to follow the social conversation from the conference community. The app may be downloaded here.
A comprehensive schedule of events and details on each of the planned sessions may be found at the conference website.
