IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine's unique aim is to publish original work in the intersection of engineering and clinical translation. The journal's focus is interdisciplinary collaborations between researchers, healthcare providers, and industry and aims to publish results and best practices from these translational efforts.
Dr. Melillo is a PhD candidate in Bioengineering at the University of Bologna. He holds a BSc and MSc in Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in Health Management from the University of Naples Federico II. He holds a research fellowship evaluating the efficacy of gene therapy for ocular disease and is Principal Investigator of a project funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, “Smart health and artificial intelligence for risk estimation.” His research interests include biomedical imaging, signal and data processing, telemedicine, artificial intelligence applied to health information, health management and health technology assessment. He is certified both as an engineer (industrial and information) and as a journalist.
