Chapter Funding Requirements

EMBS funding is available only to EMBS Chapters, EMBS Student Branch Chapters and EMBS Student Clubs. Matching funds of up to $2000 for virtual events and $3000 for physical events, on an application basis. The matching ratio is 2:1, with EMBS providing up to twice the amount raised from some other source, to help offset the cost of activities such as (but not limited to) regional meetings, seasonal schools, career fairs, industry tours, and community engagement events. There will be a preference for activities that promote innovation, diversity, sustainability, and collaboration with local communities. Funded chapters and clubs are required to complete the proposed activity before the end of the funding cycle and submit a report (including a short video) for publication on EMBS websites and social media. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, following the long-standing tradition of EMBS in celebrating equity, diversity and inclusion in both our membership and leadership.

To apply, you must provide the following information:

  • Letter signed by the Chapter or Club chair endorsing the proposed activity.
  • Short document describing the proposed event, including:
    1. organizing committee, including relevant experience towards developing the event;
    2. a full description of activities, including a timeline for execution and implementation;
    3. impact on EMBS membership (i.e., estimated number of member attendees, and how will the event develop EMBS membership);
    4. a description of the special aspects of the event that enhance its impact and innovativeness;
    5. a description the event sustainability (e.g., plan to record lectures and sessions, involvement of local or regional organizations, etc.).
  • Detailed budget including both funds obtained from other sources and funds requested from EMBS.
