Editor Search - IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering
The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society is undertaking a search for Editor-In-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering that publishes papers in all areas of biomedical engineering. The journal publishes 300 of the over 1200 submissions it receives each year and is among the most highly cited of all biomedical engineering journals, serving a diverse and truly world-wide community of scientists and engineers.
The Editor position is for a three year term and is renewable for an additional three years. The term of appointment begins 1 January 2013.
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate the scientific vision needed for advancing the world's leading comprehensive biomedical engineering journal, the editorial experience to raise the journal's intellectual quality, innovation and impact, as well as the management skills to be responsive to the growing biomedical engineering community which demands both timeliness and quality of review. A strong interest and understanding of the day to day management of a journal is critical to success. At the time of the appointment, the successful applicant must be a member of the IEEE EMBS.
Nominations and applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is selected. Review of applications by the Search Committee will commence in December 2011 and conclude by February 2012. Nominations and applications should include the following in electronic format (pdf):
- Goals and strategy for improving intellectual quality, scientific impact and responsiveness of the Transaction
- Brief synopsis of the expertise in technical editing along with subject areas
- Detailed curriculum vitae demonstrating expertise in technical area within the scope of the journal
